Lil' Rookie

So, we have been waiting for the day Gavin was old enough to start T-Ball...and that day has come! G was totally stoked! A little practice with Daddy before the big game,

Then, it was time for our team uniform and a pre-game photo with our little sport! Before leaving we ran into our neighbor friend- Jon who plays T-ball on the Braves team. YAY for the Braves who won their game earlier that same morning!

Landing the Mets...and the #4...

Gavin was placed on the Mets Team to be with one of his best little school buddies- Nicco. Of course all of us Philly fans were hoping for anything BUT a NY team... but hey, if G's happy then so are we! And at first, he landed the #16 jersey. I was super duper giddy...that was my lucky number throughout my sports growing up! But sadly, a size Large youth wasn't cutting it for my teeny-toddler so we traded it in for the #4... which fits him perfectly since that is the age starting his baseball career!

We were so very lucky to have MomMom, 'Bob', Aunt Kristin, Uncle Hubbs, and a few fab teachers- Mr. Nick, Ms. Dana, and Ms. Lauren from Gavin's preschool come cheer him on for his very first T-ball experience.

Let the Games Begin...(or not)

At first, Gavin was all smiles and extremely excited running for the field, but then... intimidation from such a large crowd, a sense of uncertainty, and cold weather fell upon my sweet little boy. In a matter of seconds, our first experience went from happy faces to sad faces, real quick! My poor little dude!

But after his fabulous coaches gave him a nice little pep talk, walking him through step-by-step and hand-in-hand, Gavin started to warm up a bit and realized running bases were actually quite fun!

And it probably felt really good to see Daddy waiting at third base for a big high five and to run with him to home plate! A little pre-game funny: since we weren't able to make his first few practices, we were explaining to Gavin about running bases. I told him how you run to 1st then 2nd, then to 3rd base and then home. Gav cracked up, looked at me and said, "No mommy, I can't run home"...LOL!

At least Gavin had Nicco to share their first t-ball memories, and our whole crew to cheer them on!

Stay tuned for the happiest little Mets players on this side of Philly...our 2nd T-Ball experience is a complete 180!
